Java Programming Language is a general-purpose programming language designed mainly for use in mobile, web, and multimedia environments by developers. It’s also been established to be the programming language of choice for creating servers, platforms, networking applications, desktop applications, integrated networks, desktop operating systems, mobile devices, games, devices with sensors and internet capabilities. Java was created as an open source programming code that worked just the same as the widely used C++ programming code with a slight twist — it’s written in Java script, making it compatible with the majority of browsers and servers. Java is not a mainstream or standard-used programming language, though many web developers prefer its simplicity and power over similar languages like JavaScript, Pearl, PHP, Perl, Python, C/C++, ADA, COBOL, and assembly.

For a long time, it was difficult for non-programmers to get into Java; however with the advent of more powerful, open source programming languages, including JavaFX, Servlets, and JSP, there’s now a much better way for web developers and other individuals to get their hands on Java without having to learn the entire language from scratch. Although, if you’re a developer who has knowledge of other open source technologies like PHP and Ruby on rails, you’re already half way to mastering the Java programming language. The most important thing about Java’s importance to developers is that it’s an open source technology, meaning that anybody can take advantage of its rich features and extensive documentation without paying an arm and a leg for it.

As a learner or developer of the Java programming language, you will likely benefit the most from this open source. As a developer, you’ll also be able to tap into a large base of experts for technical support, assistance, advice, help, etc. This is why Java is widely used across the industry and is considered by many as being “the one” that should be used when developing websites and online applications. JAVA developers are often able to leverage on this expertise and have access to the expert’s skills whenever they need them.
